Adrián Anacleto was interviewed by the Argentine newspaper Clarín

The CEO and Founder of Epidata shared his journey from humble beginnings to becoming a leader in the technology sector.

Buenos Aires, February 14, 2020 – Adrián Anacleto, CEO of Epidata, a leading company in innovation outsourcing and software development with a presence in Latin America and the USA, gave an interview to the prestigious Clarín newspaper, discussing how he overcame various obstacles and challenges in his childhood and adolescence to become one of the top figures in the IT sector.

In the interview, Adrián recalls his childhood in Laferrere, specifically walking from his home to Primary School 181, crossing dirt streets that characterized his neighborhood, La Granja. Anacleto, now a prominent figure in the Argentine software industry, narrated his early educational experiences at Technical School No. 7, later renamed Néstor Kirchner, and his subsequent transfer to Secondary School 3 “Antártida Argentina”.

He shared the story of how a teacher, María Elena Borocielo, decisively influenced his choice to study systems: “She had attended university, and although she did not graduate due to the dictatorship, she resumed her Geology studies at the age of 50. It was she who guided me towards Exact Sciences.” With determination, Adrián took a bus to the University City, marking the beginning of his career in systems after overcoming the challenging Common Basic Cycle (CBC).

Throughout his life, work was a constant, from selling at fairs at the age of 10 to financially supporting his education and contributing to the family’s sustenance. Adrián described the difficulties of his early days at university, when he had to adjust his budget to afford public transportation, always choosing the cheapest option.

Shortly after starting his university career, Adrián secured his first job in the systems sector, an industry that has grown substantially despite the recurring economic crises in the country. Today, as one of the vice presidents of the Chamber of Software and Computer Services Companies (CESSI), Adrián highlights the importance of national talent in the sector, which generates around USD 1.6 billion annually in exports, surpassing even the automotive industry.

In addition to his business success, Adrián has maintained strong ties with his community, actively contributing to the educational and professional development of the region. His company, Epidata, founded in 2003, currently employs students from the local university’s Programming program and plans to further expand these opportunities.

“I firmly believe in the technological potential to create more opportunities in the La Matanza district,” stated Adrián, emphasizing the value of local human capital and the need for clear policies that promote sector growth, to continue stimulating the hiring of new Epidata employees, currently exceeding 600 people.

In a final message to students, Adrián emphasized the importance of perseverance: “The first job is always difficult, but if you don’t get it today, you will eventually achieve it.” With a vision for the future, he spoke about a national plan projecting 350,000 employees in the sector by 2030, reaffirming his belief that the software industry can transform the country’s economy.
